"Wheelie" Good Day

The weather didn't look great but we decided to get out on our bikes, scooters, skates and skateboards at 9:00.  What a fortuous decision it turned out to be as the thunderstorms rolled in after 10:30.  The bikers left for their expedition to Hillwell Park, something we couldn't have done without Mrs Campbell's enthusiasm and the wonderful parent helpers.  The other 'wheelie riders' were able to zoom on the courts, around the playground, through Huia pod and down the paths into Muriwai.  Everyone had fun, even if there were a few crashes.  After morning tea we created vegetable vehicles with our pod buddies and then had a hot chip lunch.  In the afternoon we went to the hall to play with our remote controlled cars, dols and prams, barbie cars or matchbox sized cars with hot wheel ramps.

Muriwai Murals

At the beginning of the year Mrs Cuttriss had a great idea to brighten the Muriwai Pod – murals.  We all thought it would be a wonderful Pod buddy project and the planning began.  We decided that we should think about the things that can be found at our pod beach, Muriwai and include them in our designs.  After lots of thinking, talking, sketching and amazing help from Mrs Shepherd our designs were completed.  They were entered into the Resene Mural Masterpieces competition and we won 2nd prize.  Here we are with the six murals.

Sporting Excellence

On Saturday the 29th of September I went to Pukekohe to a Karate tournament.  I performed my kata and won this trophy.
This netball season I played for the mini Mystics.  We only lost one game.  I like to play GD, GK and GS.  My favourite Silver Fern is Irene Van Dyke.

Lizard Art

Lizard Art from SPS Superstars on Vimeo.
We created these Lizard Art Works using dye and black vivid.  We discussed warm and cool colours and looked at art works that included patterns.
We will be selling 2013 calendars at the gala that feature these art works.

Room 21 had an exciting day on September the 19th when we celebrated international 'Talk Like a Pirate Day'.  Some of us dressed up as pirates and had heaps of fun!

Jack and the Beanstalk

This "Jack and the Beanstalk" Toontastic animation was created by Brendan and Bella.

We have been using the Toontastic app on the iPads to create animations that retell some well known fairytales.  Some of them have some interesting adaptations.

Brendan and Bella created this Toontastic animation about "Rapunzel".

Ryan's Blackbird Babies

These are my baby black birds.  Thursday 20th September was the only day I could bring these baby black birds to school.  When my family was looking after the baby blackbirds they hopped out of their box and explored the house.  Then my family thought to put them in a cage.  We had to give them to a person that looks after birds.

Brendan's Swimming

I go to West Wave in Henderson.  I started as a Guppie.  The pool was a bit too deep for me, but I did not give up.  I tried my best to swim well and I jumped heaps of levels to Olly Otters.  I practised every Saturday and I have moved up to Tuna.  Now I am training to get to Dolphins.

Penguin Posters

We created these penguin posters using ComicLife on the iPads.  We learnt lots of new skills as we found things quite different from using ComicLife on our desktops and laptops.  We are now pretty good at problem solving on iPads to find solutions to the difficulties we had.  Lots of the solutions we found will help us in other iPad, iTouch or iPhone apps.
