"Wheelie" Good Day

The weather didn't look great but we decided to get out on our bikes, scooters, skates and skateboards at 9:00.  What a fortuous decision it turned out to be as the thunderstorms rolled in after 10:30.  The bikers left for their expedition to Hillwell Park, something we couldn't have done without Mrs Campbell's enthusiasm and the wonderful parent helpers.  The other 'wheelie riders' were able to zoom on the courts, around the playground, through Huia pod and down the paths into Muriwai.  Everyone had fun, even if there were a few crashes.  After morning tea we created vegetable vehicles with our pod buddies and then had a hot chip lunch.  In the afternoon we went to the hall to play with our remote controlled cars, dols and prams, barbie cars or matchbox sized cars with hot wheel ramps.

Muriwai Murals

At the beginning of the year Mrs Cuttriss had a great idea to brighten the Muriwai Pod – murals.  We all thought it would be a wonderful Pod buddy project and the planning began.  We decided that we should think about the things that can be found at our pod beach, Muriwai and include them in our designs.  After lots of thinking, talking, sketching and amazing help from Mrs Shepherd our designs were completed.  They were entered into the Resene Mural Masterpieces competition and we won 2nd prize.  Here we are with the six murals.
