We celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday with a Karakare pod day. We met our pod buddies and made a Lorax mask, Thing One or Two, created a Seuss city or took part in a Seuss drama.

Isaac's Dad is a beekeeper. Isaac and Milind shared some information about beekeeping and artifacts beekeepers use.

Olivia's Paper Wasp Nest

Olivia brought a paper wasp nest to show us.  The wasp collects fibres, which it chews and mixes with saliva.  This makes the fibre extremely soft and moist.  After a period of chewing, the wasp adds the paste to the nest structure and spreads it out with her mandibles and legs.  After it thoroughly dries; a type of tough, durable paper is formed.

Today we welcomed our first mystery reader into Room 9.  We had some clues to help us discover who it was going to be.
